HepcoMotion apprentice wins regional Outstanding Apprentice of the Year Award

A talented young apprentice from Tiverton-based HepcoMotion has won this year’s regional Outstanding Apprentice of the Year Award.  Against strong competition, Matt Neal excelled at the EEF/Aldermore Future Manufacturing Awards where he won the Outstanding First Year Apprentice Award.

This coveted award is a tremendous outcome given the extent of Matt’s competition in this region. Matt was up against a large number of apprentices from blue chip engineering companies and in particular those from Rolls Royce and Airbus.  Matt impressed the judges with his commitment, ambition and drive to pursue a career in manufacturing. He received his award at At-Bristol, a leading UK science centre and education charity on Monday 16th November.

Matt is now in the running for the national title. He will be going head-to-head with other regional winners from across the UK to win this award and will be judged on a presentation he must give in London.

Matt works for local linear motion manufacturer, HepcoMotion based in Tiverton, Devon.  Commenting on Matt’s achievement HepcoMotion’s Engineering Training Manager Bob Gregory says, “We are delighted by Matt’s achievement.  As a company we are fully committed to apprenticeships.  It not only makes sounds business sense but also gives us a real buzz to see our young engineers developing and succeeding.”

It’s a great feeling to be recognised in this way for doing something I genuinely enjoy and that is setting me up for life. I’m only at the very start of my career in manufacturing and already it is proving to be both rewarding and challenging in equal measure.”

The EEF Future Manufacturing Awards are the most established and respected regional and national recognition of manufacturing success.  The National Winner will be announced at the EEF National Gala Dinner on 27th January 2016 at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
