This position is based within our Turning Department, where duties will include:

The setting and operating of CNC lathes and turning centres. 

Previous CNC turning and programming experience and/or a proven engineering background in turning would be an advantage. 

This position is on a shift rotation, however initial training and induction will be on our normal day-shift. 

Hours of Work:

Monday to Thursday:

6.00 am - 2.30 pm / 1.30 pm - 10.00 pm, 30-minute lunch break. 

Friday:

6.00 am - 1.30 pm / 1.30 pm - 9.00 pm, 30-minute lunch break. 

39-hour week.

Based within our Jig & Tool Department where duties will include:

• The repair and maintenance of machines and equipment (predominantly Turning and Grinding). 
• Manufacture of tooling fixtures and gauging components. 
• Some fabrication and general duties to support the smooth operation of the factory. 

Previous experience of fixing machines is essential, with electrical engineering knowledge being an advantage.  The successful candidate will be able to solve problems pro-actively and work with minimal supervision.

Friday:

7.30 am - 3.00 pm, 30-minute lunch break.          39-hour week.

Inspection of finished products, components and assemblies using a variety of measuring techniques. 

Applicants should be time served in a precision engineering discipline and have experience of using a wide range of mechanical measuring equipment.

We are keen to recruit candidates who are interested in a career in engineering and have two levels of apprenticeship on offer:

Advanced:

Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship for those applicants who ideally have 4 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (or equivalent) - to include maths and English.   Full on-the-job training provided, together with day-release at a local college; leading to nationally recognised qualifications. 

Higher:

For those applicants ideally holding A Levels in maths and a science subject at Grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications.  Full on-the-job training provided together with the opportunity for sponsored study of mechanical engineering to foundation degree level initially, with the opportunity for subsequent higher-level study. 

Employment will commence during August 2012.  The interview process to include selection tests will commence in February 2012.
