Today's HepcoMotion® product versions are packed with features to minimise and often eliminate your need for secondary engineering and maintenance. Our new PSD80 screw driven linear actuator is no exception and it occupies the top news slot in this edition of HepcoMotion® enews.

HepcoMotion® products are designed for simple, quick and effective automation - our article 'The Complete Package' is a classic example of what we can do.

HepcoMotion®, Ideas in Motion

And with demand never greater for our continuous motion and circular systems we have just completed an investment programme in ring slide production. Our Production Director explains the customer benefits of our lean manufacturing technology later in this bulletin.

The message is clear, HepcoMotion® is committed to adding value to both its service as well as its products.

SCREW DRIVEN LINEAR ACTUATOR - IDEAL FOR Z-AXIS

What makes our new PSD80 screw driven linear actuator really stand out from the crowd?

  • A wide range of screw pitch options for application flexibility
  • Available in open, closed and corrosion resistant versions
  • Requires little or no maintenance
  • Long reliable service even when run dry

The high lead model provides a particularly cost effective solution. When coupled directly with a stepper motor it allows speeds of 1m/sec. It's a great alternative to single position pneumatic-driven Z axis, providing better response time as well as greater consistency and positioning accuracy.

Herculane® wheels are a main contributor to this unit's fit-and-forget performance, a technology we introduced in our PDU2 belt-driven family of products. This ensures long and reliable service even without lubrication.

We designed the PSD80 to provide low cost single or X-Y-Z screw driven movements within a multi-axis system and to work in conjunction with our established range of belt-driven units There are corrosion resistant and double-acting units available too.

In addition to door and hatch actuation, this latter option is ideal for systems that involve the positioning of opposing carriages - measuring and sensing applications are prime candidates.

SUB-ZERO WHEELS

If you're involved in systems' design for aerospace, refrigeration and similar applications that involve the sub-zero climates, read on. The latest addition to the popular DualVee Motion Technology™ range is low temperature DualVee® wheels.

The Bishop-Wisecarver DualVee® single edge slide system remains a popular choice for anti-friction guidance mechanisms. They are typically used in pick-and-place units and packaging machinery that do not require the high precision of our P1 grade GV3 system. As with other HepcoMotion®systems you can mix and match DualVee® components to meet the needs of the application and budget.

Available in a range of sizes, they feature a specially formulated lubricant which allows them to withstand service temperatures from -70°C to +110°C. And they join a wealth of other DualVee® wheel options that includes integral bush, high temperature, wash-down, clean room and stainless steel versions.

We can also supply DualVee® guide wheels with custom or customer-supplied lubricants. And for applications where grease-free running is a pre-requisite, dry running versions are also available.

THE COMPLETE PACKAGE

It's not just the technical merits of our products that differentiate HepcoMotion® from our competitors. Having been in the linear motion business for forty years we have acquired a phenomenal amount of applications know-how. And that expertise is crucial in our ability to help our customers engineer the optimum system for the task. The need for an XYZ system for unwrapping packages provides a good example.
