Three talented apprentices who work for Braintree Precision Components in Braintree, part of the Hepco group of companies, have been shortlisted for a prestigious regional apprentice award at this year’s EEF Future Manufacturing Awards.

The apprentices are all in the running for manufacturing apprentice awards. The shortlisted apprentices are:

Jonathan Barnard, 19, from Braintree, first year engineering apprentice

Joshua Ayling, 17, from Braintree, first year engineering apprentice

Jamie Matthew, 20, from Witham, first year engineering apprentice

They were selected along with 10 other apprentices from across the South East after impressing judges with their hard work, dedication and determination to pursue a career in manufacturing.

The apprentices will find out who has been crowned regional winner at a ceremony taking place at Epsom Downs on 9th November. If successful, they will then go on to compete with other regional winners from across the UK for a national title. This will be announced at an awards gala dinner in London early next year.

Jonathan Barnard, apprentice at Braintree Precision Components, says: “It’s such an honour to have been recognised in this way. I know exactly how much hard work and dedication that every apprentice puts into their apprenticeship so being shortlisted is very special. I can’t wait to meet the other apprentices and see how I get on at the awards ceremony.”

Joshua Ayling, apprentice at Braintree Precision Components, says: “My apprenticeship has opened up so many doors. It has given me an invaluable opportunity to pursue a career in an exciting and vibrant sector where I feel my achievements are valued. I hope other young people can see this and are inspired to pursue a career in manufacturing.”

Terry Scuoler, CEO of EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, says: “This is a fantastic achievement by all of the apprentices. It’s testament to their dedication that they have been shortlisted for these awards.

“Manufacturing is the cornerstone of British economic success. These awards recognise the important role and contribution of apprentices and go a small way to recognise the hard work, enthusiasm and dedication that they bring to the sector. They are the future of manufacturing so their success is industry’s success for years to come.”

Part of the Hepco group of companies, Braintree Precision Components produce world leading linear motion components. The factory produces all of Hepco’s industry leading V groove bearings. This enables the Hepco Group to control the quality and delivery of their linear systems and components.
