HepcoMotion - Braintree Precision Components Apprentice Strikes Gold at Regional Manufacturing Awards

Adam Hearn, an apprentice from Braintree Precision Components (BPC), part of the Hepco Group of companies, has struck gold at a prestigious regional manufacturing awards ceremony taking home the Engineering Apprentice Final Year Award.

The awards ceremony, sponsored by legal firm Bevan Brittan, and organised by Make UK, the manufacturers’ organisation, was held in Warwick to recognise the achievements of companies and apprentices from across the Midlands and East of England with the winners now going on to the National Finals which will be held in London in January. Adam will compete against apprentices from across the UK in the finals.

The award recognises Adam’s development as an apprentice at BPC, where he has advanced to managing teams and the installation of substantial investment projects. Based in Essex, BPC manufacture HepcoMotion’s world-class V guide bearings. Having previously been awarded runner-up in the Make UK Apprentice Awards in 2019 Adam has subsequently completed a degree and been invited to join the East of England Apprentice Ambassador Network. Through this Adam helps promote engineering as a career in local schools and colleges and is also mentoring other apprentices.

The judges said:

“Not only is this apprentice excelling in their work environment, but they are also actively championing the engineering and apprenticeship route to others in their community. Being an excellent role model and mentor to the incoming apprentices. In their working achievements, this apprentice clearly demonstrated to the judges their passion for making a difference, always striving to source new ideas and ways to automate out of date assembly line processes. This apprentice is a credit to their company and has a fantastic career path ahead of them.”

Adam Curtis, Production Engineering Manager from Braintree Precision Components said:

“As a company, we are committed to the development of enthusiastic engineers like Adam, who have the desire to progress up the career ladder.  We offer a well-renowned apprenticeship scheme, and look forward to Adam continuing to progress his career at Braintree Precision Components.”

Charlotte Horobin, Regional Director for Make UK in the Midlands and East of England, said:

“These awards are a testament to the dynamic companies and individuals working within engineering and manufacturing. The sector remains at the heart of creating wealth in the Midlands and as we re-build our economy there will be a bright future for companies and individuals that make the most of their talent.”
