Administration Assistant (Part Time)

The Role:

This is a dynamic role to support our continuing company growth.  Full in-house training on our internal systems and procedures will be provided for this interesting and varied role.  Day to day support to our Board of Directors including arranging meeting schedules, overseas travel and answering correspondence.  Office support including facilities such as front of house Reception duties as well as maintaining in house systems to assist with the smooth operational running of all aspects of the office functions.

 

The Person:

Self-motivated and organised, with the ability to implement and support systems and procedures.  An ‘on the feet’ thinker with experience of dealing with issues as they arise – recognising the need to re-prioritise as required.  The person will be approachable with the ability to deal with difficult situations discretely and confidentially.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Working under the direction of the HR & Administration Manager to support the Human Resources & Administration departmental requirements.
  • Administration of directors’ requests
  • Diary management using Outlook.
  • Arranging overseas travel to our international markets.
  • Preparing spreadsheets, reports and documents to support our business needs.
  • Office facilities support, to include equipment and consumables.

 

Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills to include; interpersonal, verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong I.T. skills including MS Office suite with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to implement new systems and review current working practices for maximum effectiveness.

 

Desirables:

  • Educated to A Level (English preferably), NVQ3 in Business Administration (or above).
  • OCR/RSA Level 3 in Text Processing advantageous.
  • Familiar with organisation of events, overseas travel or similar.
  • Previous experience in an office support role for a large multi-functional organisation

 

Hours of Work:

9.30am to 3.00pm, with 30-minute lunch break each day.  20 hours per week worked over four days to include Monday and Friday to meet operational needs.  Flexibility can be offered on other working days.  Occasional full time working (35 hours per week) by arrangement may be required from time to time.

Mechanical Engineering Inspector

Braintree Precision Components is a manufacturer of precision ball and roller bearings and other high-accuracy machined components.  It is part of the HEPCO GROUP, world leaders in the manufacture and supply of a wide range of linear motion products and precision components for automation and special purpose machine projects.

We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in all aspects of Quality Assurance.  Full on the job training will be provided.

Scope
* Skilled in the use of manufacturing inspection instruments and methods for first article     and in-process inspection of precision machined components.
* Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings and quality requirements.
* Meticulous attention to detail, with a methodical approach to tasks.
* Positive attitude combined with a ‘common sense’ approach.
* Ability to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision.
* Working to ISO 9001 standard and procedures
* Time served is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities
* To complete a programme of training to be conducted within the Quality Assurance Department.

* Measurement and inspection techniques using a variety of metrology equipment.

* Carrying out such tasks and duties as directed by the Quality Manager.

* To conduct in-process/final inspection activity and maintain accurate records.

* To assist in improving the process capability of machined components.

Skills
* Be able to use first principle inspection of machined components.

* To be I.T. literate and familiar with Microsoft “Word”, “Excel” or equivalent software.

* Ability to work efficiently and accurately

* Highly motivated

*  Time served is preferred.

Hours of Work

Monday - Thursday 1.30pm - 10.00pm
Friday1.30pm - 9.00pm

Human Resources Advisor (Part-Time)

Scope:

Providing high quality, locally focussed HR advice and service as well as working on group based projects.  Working in close conjunction with and reporting to the Human Resources & Administration Manager.  The HR Advisor will be responsible for providing vital generalist day to day operational support, including but not limited to recruitment and selection, training and development, talent retention, absence management, inducting new starters, employee relations matters and support for Line Managers.

 

Essential:

  • Experience from a generalist background to apply HR practices throughout lifecycle of employment.
  • Competent in dealing with employee relations matters including grievances, performance and disciplinary procedures and processes.
  • Managing absenteeism, both short and long term with knowledge of involving occupational health.
  • Compiling and updating company procedures and application in practice.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, team worker with a can-do attitude.

 

Desirable:

  • CIPD Level 3 in Human Resources Practice or similar or ability to substantiate professional experience.
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbal.
  • Strong IT skills with experience of using, interpreting and presenting HR data and analytics.
  • Previous experience of a manufacturing environment and appreciation of health and safety practices.

Higher & Advanced Apprenticeships in Engineering

We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in engineering, automation and robotics.  Full on the job training will be provided, together with day-release at Colchester Institute, leading to nationally recognised qualifications.

Scope:

Our Higher Apprenticeship is aimed at candidates with at least one of the following:

  • 3 A-Levels at grade C and above
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in a suitable discipline
  • Level 3 BTEC Engineering

Our Advanced Apprenticeship is aimed at candidates with the following:

  • 4 GCSE passes at grade C or above (or equivalent), these should include Maths and Science at Grade B or above.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To complete a programme of training to be conducted within the various departments of Grinding, Turning, Engineering & Planning, Quality Assurance, Assembly and Jig & Tool.
  • To become proficient in the application and use of a wide range of machine tools including, but not restricted to, conventional and CNC turning and milling & grinding.
  • Fitting and assembly skills including the use of hand tools.
  • Measurement and inspection techniques using a variety of metrology equipment.
  • Training in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) using proprietary software packages.
  • Carrying out tasks and duties as directed by the Departmental Technical Manager / Supervisor that are calculated to contribute to the requisite levels of performance and competence.

 

Skills:

  • Demonstrable interest in an engineering discipline.
  • To be I.T. literate and familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Aptitude for practical science or engineering skills.
