HIGHER & ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIPS IN ENGINEERING

We are looking for candidates with a keen interest in engineering, automation and robotics to join our manufacturing site in Tiverton.  Our Engineering Apprenticeship will provide full on the job training on site and day-release at Exeter College, leading to nationally recognised qualifications.

Levels of Apprenticeship Study Available:

We have one Higher Apprenticeship aimed at candidates with at least one of the following:

  • 3 A-Levels at grade C and above
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in a suitable discipline
  • Level 3 BTEC Engineering

And three Advanced Apprenticeships aimed at candidates with the following:

4 GCSE passes at grade C or above (or equivalent), these should include Maths and Science at Grade B or above

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To complete a programme of training within our Production departments
  • To become skilled in the application and use of a wide range of machine tools including, but not restricted to, conventional and CNC turning and milling & grinding
  • Fitting and assembly skills including the use of hand tools
  • Measurement and inspection techniques using a variety of metrology equipment
  • Training in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) using proprietary software packages
  • Carrying out tasks and duties as directed by the Departmental Technical Manager / Supervisor that are calculated to contribute to the requisite levels of performance and competence

Skills:

  • A keen interest in an engineering discipline
  • IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately
  • Highly motivated and organised
  • Aptitude for practical science or engineering skills.

Hours of Work:

Monday – Thursday:             7.30am – 4.30pm

Friday:                                      7.30am – 12.30pm

Engineering Traineeship

TRAINEESHIPS

We are pleased to be able to offer opportunities to train and develop people looking to make the move into engineering. Our traineeship programme invites individuals to undertake a 10-week intensive training course to provide basic and specific manufacturing engineering skills. Full on the job training will be provided, together with two day-release at Exeter College, leading to nationally recognised qualifications.

The programme will commence in March 2021.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• To complete a programme of training to be conducted within our Manufacturing departments.
• To become proficient in the application and use of a wide range of machine tools
• Fitting and assembly skills including the use of hand tools
• Following processes, standard operating procedures and systems of manufacture
• Carrying out tasks and duties as directed by the Technical & People Primes to maximise achievement of set levels of performance and competence

Skills:

• Demonstrable interest in learning an engineering discipline
• To be I.T. literate and familiar with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately
• Highly motivated

In return we offer:

A comprehensive training programme delivered over a 10-week period via workplace demonstration and college attendance. We will provide generous expenses package and a completion bonus on successful completion of the training. A permanent role within our organisation could be on offer, working alongside skilled and experienced engineers and, for those who excel, the possibility of further training.

While on site at HepcoMotion: 7.30am – 4.30pm
On college attended days: 9.00 am – 4.00pm

On completion of training, successful candidates may be asked to work shift patterns including night shifts or weekend working as required to meet the operational needs of the business. Therefore, candidates must be open to working flexibly.

PRODUCTION PLANNING ENGINEER

Focusing on:
Planning and scheduling jobs in line with quotations and customer drawings. Drawing plans; using specialised design software packages. Ensuring plans meet the client’s specifications and creating a method of manufacture of customer requirement consistent with Hepco’s manufacturing processes.

Essential:
• Knowledge of Hepco products and routes of manufacture
• Mechanical Engineering Qualification or Apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ3 Award.
• CAD/CAM experience.
• Interpret engineering drawings
• Computer literate including use of Microsoft Office
• Positive ‘Can do’ attitude with team working ethos

Desirables:
• SolidWorks experience
• Good technical communication skills

Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprentice

Our Apprenticeship is aimed at candidates with an interest in business, media or marketing; although all applicants will be considered. This is a genuine alternative to a university route, offering a fast track to a career in marketing, within our global organisation, with potential for further training and development.

You will assist the digital team and marketing department with a wide variety of projects including; email campaigns, creative design, social media activities plus the editing and creation of catalogues in different languages (with the help of translators). The apprenticeship includes time studying in face to face classes or online.

Your typical responsibilities will include:

– Assist in the creation and managing of email campaigns
– Creation of basic design/graphics in Photoshop and InDesign
– Editing and creating catalogues in different languages using InDesign
– Assisting with the creation and editing of video content
– Adding new content to all HepcoMotion websites, YouTube channels and other platforms
– Assist with PPC and SEO across all markets
– Distribution of content to internal staff, sales teams and distributors
– Contributing to creative print material related projects
– Assisting the marketing team with general administration and other activities as required

Some marketing-related experience is welcomed as well as experience using the creative cloud suite of packages.

CNC CELL MACHINIST

An opportunity to develop and learn key skills integral to the manufacture of Hepco’s components to specification within the CNC Cell.  Minimal, if any, programming will be required.

Responsibilities:

Operating 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machines for production of various components by:

  • Selection of correct programme using the Fanuc and Hurco controls
  • Identifying the required tooling
  • Setting tools in the machine
  • Setting the work holding on the machine
  • Running a proving programme

Skills:

  • Understanding and reading engineering drawings
  • Ability to follow process instructions
  • Able to use measuring equipment
  • Basic IT knowledge

A basic level of engineering machining experience will provide a good foundation for training on specific use of machines and other job functions.

Responsibilities

• Stock control and issue of raw materials for production
• Maintaining accurate stock records using our computer systems
• Help maintain full traceability of stock throughout the building
• Visual inspection of raw materials for defects

Skills

• Previous warehouse and stock control experience
• Manual handling experience
• Self-motivation, organisation and time management skills with ability to work to deadlines

• Current Counterbalance Cat B licence is essential, and a multi directional licence would be an advantage, however training will be provided

• Setting CNC lathes to produce rings
• Selecting correct programmes for manufacture
• Identifying and setting tooling on machine centres
• Running batch work and checking dimensions using a CMM
• Maintaining machine to our TPM requirements
• Maintaining a safe and organised working environment

Skills
