CNC TUNER – ROTATING EARLY/LATE SHIFTS

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join our Turning Department based at our Braintree site. Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be part of a team of two operating Samsung & Hembrug machines, predominately hard part turning bearing race parts and associated components.

You will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machines.  Loading and running programs through prove out according to the tools list and works instructions, producing a valid first-off component, loading and operating machines to meet desired quantities. Conducting in-process inspection, checking against drawings and specifications to ensure they are made accurately to the highest standards.

Skills, Essentials and Responsibilities:

  • Minimum 8 years previous experience in setting and operating CNC lathes.
  • Capable of programming Fanuc or Siemens CNC machines.
  • Experience of reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Proficiency in a range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques
  • Ability to follow process instructions
  • Problem solving.
  • Self-sufficient in quality control, 1st off approval and in process quality consistency checks and compliance.
  • Completion of all QA records.
  • Follow and fully comply with all site H&S procedures.

Working hours will be rotating early and late shifts as below.

Your new role:

As the Graduate Manufacturing Design Engineer, you’ll be working alongside a number of internal colleagues to produce 3D models, customer and manufacturing drawings for Hepco’s bespoke product lines. You will be expected to answer technical matters promptly and professionally, by telephone, e-mail or any other means and, in doing so fully promote the sale of products. Further in to your career, you’ll also be excepted to produce quotations and proposals for customers whilst ensuring customers drawings are presented in a precise and clear manner.

What you’ll need to succeed:

To be successful in your application for the Graduate Manufacturing Design Engineer role, you will have a proven Engineering background, this can be from a University Degree, a HNC or a HND. You must have an understand of how to use a 3D CAD software, internally they use Solidworks but they are happy to upskill you on this software package. The business is happy to consider those from a graduate background that have gained industry experience as a part of their degree.

Skills:

  • Role will require manual operations and the familiarity with manual handling to move loads as appropriate for the task
  • Use of battery power tools including power drill, angle grinder and general maintenance tools and equipment
  • Previous of working in a labouring role – all backgrounds considered
  • Experience of operating a Cherry picker or FLT will be an advantage – however training will be provided

Role

·         To operate a component wash machine on a rotational basis.

·         Must be physically fit as repetitive lifting/moving is required.

Responsibilities:

The process manufacture of scheduled plans, both written and verbal, to include cutting and machining aluminium profiles, small assembly and some final inspection activities for both stock and customer orders.  This role will involve the use of aluminium cutting saws, a small abrasive wheel saw and Rambo 3-axis CNC machine.

Scope:
• Providing a Technical Sales Service to our Customers
• Dealing first-hand with customer enquiries, by telephone and digital meetings where required
• Solving Design Problems and providing new design solutions
• Checking and validating applications, preparing costings and quotations
• Preparation of drawings
• Assisting the manufacturing team with design builds

The successful candidate could be educated to HNC level and have served a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or be educated to degree level or similar in a relevant engineering qualification.
Qualifications/Experience:

• Good telephone manner along with written communication skills
• Confidence with using video conferencing/digital meetings
• Organised with understanding of time management
• An aptitude for the workings of machine mechanisms would be useful
• Good Maths and English skills
• Working knowledge of 3D design tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD

Experience in a Sales environment would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
