Higher Apprenticeship

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic person to join our expanding team, to work and study for a Higher Apprenticeship in Automation.

 

With a HepcoAutomation Apprenticeship you will learn the skills needed to become a fully qualified Automation Engineer and begin your career with industry leading experience behind you – with a guaranteed job upon completion.  Full training will be provided, together with day-release at Telford College of Arts and Technology to study for a HNC with Engineering.

Focusing on:

  • To complete a programme of training.
  • To become proficient in the application and use of a wide range of machine tools.
  • Fitting and assembly skills including the use of hand tools.
  • Measurement and inspection techniques using a variety of metrology equipment.
  • Training in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) using proprietary software packages.
  • Carrying out tasks and duties as directed by the Departmental Technical Manager / Supervisor that are calculated to contribute to the requisite levels of performance and competence.

Essential:
Our Higher Apprenticeship is aimed at candidates with at least one of the following:

  • 3 A-Levels at grade C (or equivalent) and above to include Maths and Science
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in a suitable discipline
  • Level 3 BTEC Engineering

Desirables:

  • Demonstrable interest in an engineering discipline.
  • To be I.T. literate and familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Aptitude for practical science or engineering skills.

Marketing Apprentice (Design and Digital)

Our Apprenticeship is aimed at candidates with either a business or a design background; although all applicants will be considered.
The Marketing Apprentice will be required to assist the Marketing team with a wide variety of projects including; email campaigns, creative design and social media activities.  The scope can be adaptive to suit the skills and passion of the candidates to some degree.  This is a great opportunity with potential for further training and development.  Day-release at Exeter College, leading to nationally recognised qualifications.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creation and sending of email campaigns

  • Will assist with online advertising and search engine optimisation across all markets.

Maintenance Engineer – Weekend Shift

Scope:

As a Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for making sure that machinery and equipment runs efficiently by carrying out routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing faults.  You will also be required to manufacture items that will help you with machine maintenance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, manufacture and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Carry out installation repairs and planned preventative maintenance on engineering plant and equipment.
  • Adhere to the Departments Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work procedures.
  • Train and instruct other trades including Apprentices.
  • Share knowledge, training, technical advise and support fellow employees.

 

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Safe isolation of mechanical and electrical services.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with the Departments Risk Assessments.
  • Fully understand all relevant Health & Safety issues pertaining to the relevant trade discipline.

 

Skills:

  • Capacity to understand a range of engineering functions and procedures.

  • The initiative to work on your own or as part of a team.

Grinding Operator

Job Role:

To support our continued growth we have an opportunity for Grinding Operators to join our on their busy and well run manufacturing line.  This role includes the measuring of individual components using sensitive metrology equipment.

 

Essential to Role:

  • Experience of precision or Tool room grinding.
  • Knowledge of cylindrical grinding principles.
  • Proven engineering background in a similar environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work as part of a team.

Preferred for Role:

  • Ideally similar background in manufacturing, production and grinding-based roles, would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Use of pre set meters and gauges to check conformity of product.
  • A willingness to learn and constantly improve.
  • Good team worker.

 

 

Hours of Work:

Day Shift:

Monday – Thursday:                              7.30am – 4.00pm

Friday:                                                  7.30am – 3.00pm          39 hours per week

 

Night Shift:

Monday – Wednesday:                          8.00pm – 6.30am

Thursday:                                              9.00pm – 6.30am.  39-hours per week

 

Breaks
10 minutes tea break.

30 minutes lunch break.

Due to a substantial increase in business and high customer demand, we have an opportunity available to increase our internal capacity in our world class Grinding facility.  Full training will be provided.

 

Focusing on:

Joining our Grinding Production Cell, using our modern grinding technology, including our Sigma Grinding centres, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machines.  Loading and running programs through prove out and programme simulation according to work instructions, producing a valid first-off component and having it verified.  Loading and operating machines to meet desired quantities, conducting in-process inspection and checking against drawings and specifications to ensure they are manufactured accurately and to the highest standards.

 

Essential:

  • Minimum 2-years previous experience in setting and operating CNC or Grinding machines.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc programming controls.
  • Experience of reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Proficiency in a range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
  • Experience of precision or tool room grinding

 

Desirables:

  • Proven engineering background in a similar environment
  • Mechanical Engineering Manufacture Apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ3 Award, BTEC or City & Guilds qualification in engineering at Advanced Level.
  • Can do attitude with team working ethos.
  • A high level of IT literacy.  Experience using CMM, pre-set meters and gauges to check conformity of product.

Focusing on:

Manufacturing customer orders on our circular motion product range using vertical and horizontal turning centres, along with other large format ring grinding/turning machines.  Loading, setting and running programs through initial prove out simulation according to the requirements of production documentation.  Producing valid first-off component and having it verified or self-inspected using our CMM (with training).  Loading and operating machines to meet desired quantities, conducting in-process inspection, checking set ups/first off against drawings and specifications to ensure orders are manufactured accurately and to the highest quality standards.

 

Essential:

  • Minimum 2-years previous experience in setting and operating CNC machines.
  • Proven experience of milling and turning on CNC centres.
  • Fully conversant with Fanuc programming controls.
  • Experience of reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Proficiency in a range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques
