Warehouse Assistant – Day

Due to our continued growth and succession planning we have an opportunity for an individual to join our team. BPC operate a small but extremely busy Turning Department equipped with CNC Turning centres, Sliding Head and Multi spindle Auto Lathes. Storage and distribution of our raw materials is a critical part of our operation.

Scope:

The successful candidate will work a permanent dayshift. Daily duties will be aligned with our operational needs for the appropriate raw materials to be available at their point of use as scheduled by production. The team will comprise of two employees.

Role:

·         Loading materials (in bar or billet form) to the Lathes and moving bar stock from our High Bay Warehouse Facility to the Turning Cell.

·         Palletising finished work in preparation for shipment to Heat Treatments and protecting using waterproof film.

·         Clearing swarf and chips from machines and emptying chip bins into scrap metal skips.

·         Assisting with Unloading/loading Commercial vehicles as and when required.

·         Occasionally Machine minding and carrying out fettling and deburring operations to certain turned products.

·         Verifying incoming raw materials by checking weight, bar sizes and specification (full training Essential to role

·         Excellent eyesight with no history of colour blindness issues. (Our Bar Stocks are colour coded to prevent misuse on products).

·         Excellent concentration ability and attention to detail.

·         Previous experience in the use of counter balance forklift vehicles (even if certification has lapsed) and also as a Banksman. Willingness to be trained in the use of a Combi Lift truck in the future

.        Full UK car driving licence essential

Higher Automation Apprentice

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic person to join our expanding team, to work and study for a Higher Apprenticeship in Automation.

 

With a HepcoAutomation Apprenticeship you will learn the skills needed to become a fully qualified Automation Engineer and begin your career with industry leading experience behind you – with a guaranteed job upon completion.  Full training will be provided, together with day-release at Telford College of Arts and Technology to study for a HNC with Engineering.

 

Focusing on:

  • To complete a programme of training.
  • To become proficient in the application and use of a wide range of machine tools.
  • Fitting and assembly skills including the use of hand tools.
  • Measurement and inspection techniques using a variety of metrology equipment.
  • Training in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) using proprietary software packages.
  • Carrying out tasks and duties as directed by the Departmental Technical Manager / Supervisor that are calculated to contribute to the requisite levels of performance and competence.

Essential:

Our Higher Apprenticeship is aimed at candidates with at least one of the following:

  • 3 A-Levels at grade C (or equivalent) and above to include Maths and Science
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in a suitable discipline
  • Level 3 BTEC Engineering

CNC Turner – Cell Machinist

Due to a substantial increase in business and high customer demand, we have 2 opportunities available using our Vertical Turning Centres, to increase our internal capacity in our world class Ring Cell facility.  Full training will be provided.

 

Focusing on:

Manufacturing customer orders on our circular motion product range using vertical and horizontal turning centres, along with other large format ring grinding/turning machines.  Loading, setting and running programs through initial prove out simulation according to the requirements of production documentation.  Producing valid first-off component and having it verified or self-inspected using our CMM (with training).  Loading and operating machines to meet desired quantities, conducting in-process inspection, checking set ups/first off against drawings and specifications to ensure orders are manufactured accurately and to the highest quality standards.

 

Essential:

  • Minimum 2-years previous experience in setting and operating CNC machines.
  • Proven experience of milling and turning on CNC centres.
  • Fully conversant with Fanuc programming controls.
  • Experience of reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Proficiency in a range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques

 

Desirables:

  • Proven engineering background in a similar environment.
  • Mechanical Engineering Manufacture Apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ3 Award, BTEC or City & Guilds qualifications at Advanced Level.
  • Can do attitude with team working ethos.
  • A high level of IT literacy.
  • Experience using CMM, pre-set meters and gauges to check conformity of product.

Supplier Quality Engineer

Role:

Investigate, analyse and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analysing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects

Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Work with purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented

·         Create, maintain and update critical supplier audit system and schedule

·         Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement

·         Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including Supplier OTD (Past due), DPPM and waste

·         Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances

·         Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply

·         Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting Hepco Slide System requirements

·         Drive “Zero Defect” into the supply chain

·         Communicate engineering and manufacturing specifications to supplier technical teas

·         Actively manage supplier to ensure there are no regressions with the implementation of new processes

·         Aide in the new supplier evaluation

·         Travel to the supplier locations to resolve quality problems as necessary

·         Work to help achieve performance goals and offer suggestions that can lead to improved performance whenever possible

Qualifications/Desirables:

·         Degree qualified in a related field; or 4 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office applications

·         Strong problem solving skills

·         Strong organisational skills

·         Understanding of project management (experience preferred)

·         Knowledge of various quality system methodologies 8D, Lean, 5 Why, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, etc.

·         Ability to work well with diverse groups of people and be able to function independently of direct supervision

·         Must have a valid driver’s licence in good standing and the ability for European travel.

CNC Machinist
