Production Cell Team Leader

An opportunity to join a rapidly expanding, industry leading, customer focused company with a vision of growing our reputation as world leaders in linear motion technology.

Reporting to the Production Manager, we are seeking a replacement Team Leader to support the continued growth of the company whilst strengthening the people management of the production cells.  The Team Leader will have day-to-day responsibility and focus on supporting and developing employees.

 

Scope of the Role:

  • Promote a safe working environment and reduce accident trend.
  • Ensure output targets are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure performance of team and individuals meets targets set including managing performance effectively.
  • Achieve positive customer service with high levels of on-time delivery and delivered quality results.
  • Improve productivity results through improving OEE performance.
  • 5S percentage score improvement.
  • People management and performance to include skills, appraisals and development.
  • Team communications and daily HR procedural adherence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Creating and maintaining a positive workforce and developing an effective team-working environment.
  2. Promote safe practices.
  3. Coaching employees to include addressing performance issues and conducting personal development reviews to improve skills.
  4. Identify skills gaps and implement training plans to support the business needs.
  5. Day to day HR activities to deal with employee conflict and perform first level disciplinary reviews to include absence management.
  6. Develop and support improvement programmes in conjunction with employees.
  7. Participate in regular team briefings, to promote and develop a culture of inclusive communication, engagement and co-operation.
  8. Planning, organising and prioritising the workloads of machine shop personnel to ensure production targets are met, maximising the utilisation of capital equipment.
  9. Key person in ensuring KPI targets on safety, quality, cost, efficiency and delivery are achieved.
  10. Maximise the Overall Equipment Effectiveness performance.
  11. Adhere to lean principles and working practices including 5S.

 

Key Skills:

  • Strong leader with previous experience of coaching and people management to include employee engagement, motivation and performance and development.
  • Performance management process and techniques.
  • Previous experience of production supervision.
  • Appreciation and implementation of lean principles including 5S and SMED.
  • Excellent IT and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of health and safety compliance.

Hours of Work

Monday - Thursday:7.00am - 4.00pm
Friday:7.00am - 12.00pm

Lead Automation Engineer

Objective:

Reporting directly to the General Manager responsible for providing technical advice, guidance and overseeing the build and integration of automated machinery, this diverse role will require extensive knowledge of automated machinery, robotics and appreciation of machinery safety.

Scope:

  • Ideally, with excellent project management and leadership skills you will be overseeing the day-to-day activities for the build of automated machinery.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of automation and robotic systems in support of new programmes, cost improvement programs and operations.
  • Simulate and test automated machinery and processes in order to complete exact tasks.
  • Responsible for a small team of junior engineers of varying skill levels you will be required to schedule workloads and monitor progress against project plan.
  • To liaise with customers and undertake customer site visits will be required. (This may involve overseas travel within Europe)
  • Provide automation guidance and training to the functional groups (ie, operations, Validation, Maintenance)
  • Author and/or review technical and design documents for projects and implement process changes.
  • Support FAT/Commissioning/qualification activities as required.
  • Establish and maintain technical time and cost objectives for projects using project specifications.
  • Carry out safety audits and risk assessments on all machinery to ensure total compliance and a safe working environment.
  • Carry out and manage projects/modifications from concept to completion.
  • Specification of electrical and mechanical components, producing bills of materials and project schedules.
  • Management of personnel and projects to timescales and deadlines.
  • Taking responsibility for delivery of engineering works products according to cost, quality and operational targets.

Skills/Education:

  • Educated to HNC/HND level in Engineering with electrical or control systems bias.
  • Experience within a similar role with the build and test of automated machinery.
  • Knowledge of CE Marking process and the Machinery Directive.
  • Customer focused with good communication skills both verbally and written.
  • High attention to detail with good analytical and reporting skills.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and working practices.
  • Flexible, team focused and willing to show initiative
  • Ability to provide training, motivate, manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and diagnostic ability both reactive and proactive.

 

Hours of Work

Monday - Thursday 8.00am - 5.00pm
Friday8.00am - 2.30pm

40 hours per week

Although the successful candidate will be expected to be flexible and work the hours required to succeed in the role.

CNC Machinist

Due to a substantial increase in business and high customer demand, we have opportunities available, to increase our internal capacity in our world class CNC facility; working on either our small CNC machines or our large 84 & 85 CNC machines.

 

Focusing on:

You will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machines.  Loading and running programs through prove out according to the tools list and works instructions, producing a valid first-off component and having it verified, loading and operating machines to meet desired quantities, conducting in-process inspection, checking against drawings and specifications to ensure they are made accurately and to the highest standards.

 

Essential:

  • Minimum 2-years previous experience in setting and operating CNC machines.
  • Working knowledge of Fanuc controls.
  • Experience of reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Proficiency in a range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques.

 

Desirables:

  • Mechanical Engineering Manufacture Apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ3 Award, BTEC or City & Guilds qualification in engineering at Advanced Level.
  • Can do attitude with team working ethos.
  • A high level of IT literacy.

CNC Turner – Cell Machinist

Due to a substantial increase in business and high customer demand, we have 2 opportunities available using our Vertical Turning Centres, to increase our internal capacity in our world class Ring Cell facility.  Full training will be provided.

 

Focusing on:

Manufacturing customer orders on our circular motion product range using vertical and horizontal turning centres, along with other large format ring grinding/turning machines.  Loading, setting and running programs through initial prove out simulation according to the requirements of production documentation.  Producing valid first-off component and having it verified or self-inspected using our CMM (with training).  Loading and operating machines to meet desired quantities, conducting in-process inspection, checking set ups/first off against drawings and specifications to ensure orders are manufactured accurately and to the highest quality standards.

 

Essential:

  • Minimum 2-years previous experience in setting and operating CNC machines.
  • Proven experience of milling and turning on CNC centres.
  • Fully conversant with Fanuc programming controls.
  • Experience of reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Proficiency in a range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques

 

Desirables:

  • Proven engineering background in a similar environment.
  • Mechanical Engineering Manufacture Apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ3 Award, BTEC or City & Guilds qualifications at Advanced Level.
